Equipment Safety Notice
Effective October 19, 2026.
Strength and cardio equipment can cause serious injury or death if it is assembled, installed, used or maintained incorrectly. StrongRanked does not make, sell, install or inspect any equipment we rank. Rankings and specifications are informational only.
- Follow the manufacturer. Read and follow every manual, warning label and instruction. Manufacturer instructions take priority over anything on this Site.
- Respect weight and user limits. Never exceed the rated capacity of racks, benches, bars, pull-up bars, plates or machines, and include your body weight where relevant.
- Assemble and anchor correctly. Use all supplied hardware, torque bolts as specified, and bolt down or anchor racks and wall- or door-mounted equipment where required. Check that walls, door frames, ceilings and floors can bear the load. When in doubt, use a qualified installer.
- Use safeties and spotters. Use safety arms, spotter straps, J-hooks and collars, or a trained spotter, when lifting heavy, especially when pressing or squatting alone.
- Inspect regularly. Before each use, check for loose hardware, cracks, bent steel, frayed straps or cables, and worn grips or belts. Stop using damaged equipment until it's repaired or replaced.
- Space and flooring. Leave clearance around equipment, use suitable flooring or platforms for dropped weights (bumper plates only where dropping is intended), and keep the area clear.
- Children and pets. Keep them away from equipment in use. Store plates, kettlebells and dumbbells securely, unplug and lock motorized machines, and don't let children use equipment.
- Recalls. Check the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (cpsc.gov/recalls) and the manufacturer for recalls on any equipment you own or buy.
- Know your limits. Get medical clearance before starting a new program, learn proper technique (ideally from a qualified coach), progress gradually, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness, chest pain or shortness of breath.
